WARS - Civil War - Siege of Petersburg

1865

At the Union siege of Petersburg, Virginia, General Lee made a desperate attempt to break through the Union line at its weakest point, Fort Stedman, east of the city. Despite initial success the Confederates were beaten back. Losses on both sides were heavy.
